Responsibility Fourth Engineer On Board
Under the leadership of Second Engineer, implementing the requirements safety management system. Be responsible for managing the following machinery, make detailed records and to ensuring their proper functioning:
- Machinery on deck such as windlass, winch and cranes.
- Auxiliary engines inside the engine room such as bilge pump, ballast pump, sanitary pump, daily fresh water pump, general pump, auxiliary boiler, exhaust gas boiler and process CSM items (Continuous Survey of Machinery). Compile repair lists for the reference of the Chief Engineer and First Engineer.
- Manage the operation of the boiler, including analyzing and treating the boiler water and ensure its cleanliness. Ensure also all equipment of the boiler is correctly used.
- Manage, analyze the boiler water and engine cooling fresh water.
- Manage, maintenance and supervise the working condition of the refrigerating compressor of air condition and provision store.
Responsible for the maintenance, repair and management of the lifeboat’s motors to ensure they’re proper functioning.
Whilst the ship is at sea, the Fourth Engineer works from 0800 to 1200 and 2000 to 2400. Whilst the ship is in port, he has to do maintenance and repair work under the instruction of the Chief and Second Engineer as well as to work during the safety shift.
